Omega Dubai Desert Classic 2016

Where? Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis Course, Dubai

The Omega Dubai Desert Classic has made itself a big name nationally as well as internally, attracting some of the biggest names in golf, including Tiger Woods, Ernie Els and Rory MCIlroy – to name a few. The event is a PGA European Tour and features prizes with a total amount of USD 2.5 million.

Bloomberg Square Mile Relay Dubai

After London, Singapore, Shanghai and Hong Kong, the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay will now be in Dubai for the very first time. This is a great opportunity for our ExpatConnect Joggers Group to get into gear. In a team of ten, you will be running for a good cause (nominate a charity!) around the DIFC area (1.6km).

Dubai Tour 2016

In its third year, the Dubai Tour is one of the regions most popular cycling events, which is being organized in partnership with RCS Sports and the Dubai Sports Council. The cycle race has four different stages/levels, which are all more than 100 km long. So, this is a great opportunity to hop on your bike, especially for our ExpatConnect Cycling Group. Another event for our ExpatConnect Music Lovers Group: Arijith Singh is coming to Dubai. The Indian singer and music programmer became a household name with his hit song “Turn Hi Ho” (2013). After some smashing performances in the past, he is now returning to Dubai with a 45-piece Symphony Orchestra.

 

The Ripe Food and Craft Market

The Ripe Food and Craft Market is a community event and offers fresh organic local fruits and vegetables, as well as a wide range of handmade art and accessories. In addition, the market features various live musicians and a petting zoo for children.

Daman Hercules Trophy

The “Daman Hercules Trophy” is a teambuilding event that gives every company a chance to improve its team spirit. Luzia Von Wyl Ensemble – More than Jazz Feat Special Guest: Faisal Al Saari

Here’s another one for our ExpatConnect Music Lovers: Welcome the Luzia Von Wyl Ensemble from Switzerland to the stage! This ensemble does not just perform but turns jazz concerts into extraordinary live events.  The repertoire consists exclusively of pieces written by ensemble founder Luzia Von Wyl. Special guest of the evening will be the well-known Emirati Oud Player Faisal Al Saari who will present a selection of his most beautiful songs, as well as a new piece composed by himself and Luzia.

UFO Circus From Another Planet

Aerial dancers, trapeze artists, skaters and many more performance artists are part of this stunning show presented by the Great Moscow State Circus and the Center of Zapashny Brothers (producer). The show tells the story of an everyday man whom aliens have kidnapped. On his journey, the man meets various creatures and learns about the crazy life in space.

Now in its 24th year, the tournament owners and organisers Dubai Duty Free are proud to present one of the most popular and competitive events around the globe. While the Dubai Women’s Open will be taking place from 15 – 20 Feb, the Dubai Men’s Open will be running from 22 – 27 Feb. Past Champions include Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Simona Halep and Venus Williams, who won the various prize money amounts, adding up to a total of USD 5 million.

M1 Run 2016

This is a vertical run in which the participating individuals and teams will start from the entrance of the hotel and make their way through the parking floors and staircase to level 42 (the official finishing point). Here is another one for all fans of electronic music: The first Nasimi Sessions of 2016 will be presenting German DJ and producer Robin Schulz at the turntables. One of Schulz’s ultimate hits was his remix of “Waves” by Mr Probz. This version became a worldwide success and received a nomination for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards.

Get dirty and prove yourself in the world’s best muddy obstacle course, the “Spartan Race.” There are two levels. While level 1 (“Spartan Sprint”) is a 5km run and includes around 15 obstacles to overcome, level 2 (“Spartan Super”) is a 13km run and includes around 25 obstacles. In addition, there will be a Junior Race for 4-15 year olds with tracks ranging from 800m to 1.6km.

Headliner of the first DXBeach event of 2016 will be Tiesto.
